About RollCalculator

RollCalculator is a collection of free calculators for trade and industrial work: roll and reel length, tank volume and dip charts, chemical concentration and dilution, and the geometry that comes up around them. The tools are built for the people who actually use these numbers — converters and printers estimating material left on a roll, plant operators reading tank levels, lab and facility staff preparing solutions.

Why this site exists

Most of these calculations are standard engineering formulas, but the online tools for them tend to be dated, cluttered, or hide the math. We wanted a set of tools that are fast, mobile-friendly, work in both metric and imperial units, and show the formula and worked examples right on the page — so you can check the result instead of trusting a black box.

How we keep the numbers right

Every calculator page shows the formula it uses, and most include worked examples you can reproduce by hand. Reference data — such as density-to-concentration tables for sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid — is cross-checked against multiple independent published sources before we ship it, and each page notes its sources. Calculations run entirely in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded anywhere (see our Privacy Policy).

Limitations

These tools are calculation aids, not engineering advice. Real-world materials vary — film thickness tolerances, tank fabrication differences, temperature effects on density — so treat results as estimates and verify against measurement where accuracy matters. For safety-critical or regulatory work, always confirm with a qualified engineer.

Who builds it

RollCalculator is written and maintained by D. Shin, who has spent roughly fifteen years in furniture manufacturing — running a panel-processing shop, and building the CAD and production software around it: material take-off from drawings, cut-list optimisation for panel saws, and order-to-shop-floor data pipelines.

That is the background these tools come from. Working out how much material is left on a roll, how many litres sit below a dip reading, or how to step a stock solution down to a working concentration are ordinary shop problems, and the existing online tools for them were mostly dated or opaque. Every calculator here started as something that had to be right on a real job.

Pages that involve published reference data or a formula choice carry a byline and the date they were last reviewed. Corrections are credited and applied — see how we work.

The site is funded by advertising, which is what keeps every tool free to use. We take no payment for mentioning products, and no calculator result is influenced by an advertiser.
